Sathyaraj has no pair in Kalavaram

Each director has their own style in convincing the top heroes to act in their films. But Universal Films Kalavaram’s director T Ramesh has convinced an actor in a different unusual way.

The star is Sathyaraj. T Ramesh who had given big films like Ulavu Thurai and Jananam approached Sathyaraj not with his bio data but with the important scenes that he had shot for Kalavaram. Seeing the clippings, Sathyaraj who was highly impressed gave his nod.

Sathyaraj had earlier adorned khaki dresses in the films Kadami Kanniyam Kattupaddu and Walter Vetrivel which turned to be hits. Now once again he is becoming a police officer in this film.

Ramesh while speaking about this said,” But this is a different role. In his earlier he would have acted as an active police officer where there would be interventions preventing him to do the duty. But in this film it is not so. In fact he will be doing the role of a retired Dy Commissioner. He is being nominated as the Chairman of an enquiry committee which will investigate about a violent riot that takes place.

How he investigates this is the rest of the story. There will be a message in this film like my earlier films. I am clearly pointing out that how the public are affected by the riots made by anti social elements, religious fanatics and selfish politicians.

Since Sathyaraj is a retired police officer, he does not have a pair. Sathyaraj who came to act in a single call sheet for the first schedule became so involved that he adjusted his other films dates and gave me extra 6 days call sheet. Four new faces and Nellai girl Suji Bala are sharing the screen with Sathyaraj. Faizal has composed the music. There are only two songs in this film.

But these songs will be in the back ground. The first half of the shooting has been shot in Chennai, Madurai and Tirunalveli. I have planned to shoot the riot scenes with thousands of junior actors and 100 cars in Madurai. Sathyaraj who hates riots becomes a reason for another riot. This is the twist of the film.”
