A handbook titled Actsafe, which lists 38 different types of safety hazards in film and television production set, was released in Chennai on Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion, veteran actor Delhi Ganesh said actors and technicians take enormous risk just to get a few rounds of applause. "Though we know there are dangers involved in it, we do everything possible to win a few claps."
Pointing out that Kamal Haasan would always ensure the safety of his colleagues, Ganesh recalled a scene he worked with the actor for 'Thenali'. "He makes sure his co-artists wear the safety gear when they perform stunts," Ganesh said.
According to R A Mohamed Kamal, chairman of the Indian Media Safety Institute, which has published the book, the book has discussed a wide range of issues including use of alcohol and drugs, handling of animals, care in using costumes, use of make up, props, ventilation and shooting around water bodies.
"Also discussed were precautions to be followed while handling electrical equipment, fire safety, using motor vehicles and aircraft and during stunt scenes," he added.
Former Deputy Director, Tamil Nadu Fire and Rescue Services N Jeevanandham and Exnora International founder M B Nirmal were also present.
