Raavanan which has Aishwarya Rai, Abhishek Bachchan and Vikram in the cast is to be released soon in Tamil, Hindi and Telugu languages. Abhishek Bachchan was supposed to act in the Tamil version but at the last moment Prithviraj was signed to act in this role.
Abhishek Bachchan while speaking to the media said the reason for not acting in the Tamil version. He said,” Manirathnam had the idea to make the film Raavanan in Hindi alone. Later on he decided to make the Tamil version. He asked me to act in the role called Dev in the Tamil version. Initially I agreed but later on felt that since I don not know Tamil, the role will not be good. I told this to Manirathnam.
I told I would not do justice to the role since I did not know Tamil. I told him to offer the role to some other actor and also told him that since Aishwarya Rai knows Tamil, she can act in both the versions. Manirathnam was very adamant but some how I convinced him. This film is not based on the epic Ramayana. But the story will be in a different platform.”
